+ WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
You can arrive anytime from when the doors open as you are free to enjoy the local hospitality and outdoor setting before the film starts. As the film starts when the sun sets, we will open the event two hours before. Please check on your ticket for the entry time. We will close the venue 15 minutes before the film starts.
+ CAN I BRING SOMETHING TO SIT ON?
Yes absolutely! Southwold's Outdoor Cinema does not provide seating. You can bring picnic blankets, cushions and chairs of a reasonable size to sit on. As the venue is within the SSSI and therefore there will be nature and wildlife on the common, we would recommend picnic chairs as the preferred seating option.
+ WHAT IF IT RAINS?
The event will always go ahead. We recommend that you please check the weather forecast in advance and be prepared for the Great British Summer. The event will only be cancelled if the weather conditions present a danger at screen time. Patrons accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur on a screening night and acknowledge that tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless a screening is cancelled by Southwold Town Council. In the unlikely event that a screening is cancelled, we will aim to give you as much notice as possible. + CAN I SMOKE AT THE EVENT?
Smoking is not permitted onsite. If we wish to smoke at an event, please speak to one of our team onsite who will allow you to leave the site to smoke and readmit you when you are finished. Please dispose of your rubbish responsibility.
+ CAN I BRING MY DOG TO THE SCREENING?
Yes as long as they are friendly and well-behaved. If not, we will ask you to take them home.
+ CAN I BRING CHILDREN?
Children are permitted at our events, but please be aware that they must adhere to audience members are suitable age to see the film. Valid photographic ID will be required for any person we believe to be under the age certification of the film. Any child aged under 3 is free. Children aged 3 or over need a valid ticket. The following ID can be used as proof of age: current passport, current UK driver’s license or provisional license, VALIDATE UK, CitizenCard.
+ IS THERE WHEELCHAIR ACCESS?
Yes we can help with wheelchair access, however please be aware the venue is on grassland and can be bumpy. Please let us know if you require any additional support onsite.
+ CAN I HEAR EVEN WITH A HEARING AID?
Yes, the headphones are noise cancelling so you will not hear any outside noise for example, cars, someone who is talking next to you, etc). The headphones also have volume control on each headphone so you can turn them up or down to help with hearing aids to best suit you. These headphones are also used for silent discos and many of these events are held in care homes all over the UK where the residences have a fun time enjoying listening to the music!
+ WILL THERE BE SUBTITLES?
Where we show foreign language films, we will always display subtitles.
+ HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED IN MY PITCH?
This depends on the size of your group. Each pitch is catered to the size of the group, therefore a 2 person pitch has space for 2 people, whilst a 4 person pitch is large enough for 4 people and a 6 person pitch will fit 6 people from the same household or support bubble. If you wish to book multiple pitches you are welcome to, however please be aware that we cannot guarantee that you will be seated next to one another and pitches may not be merged under any circumstance.
+ HOW ARE PITCHES ASSIGNED?
Pitches will be assigned on a first come first served basis, according to your ticket type.
+ HOW CLOSE WILL THE NEXT PITCH BE TO ME?
Even though the Government has relaxed restrictions we will continue to mark out pitches and allocate space between each one to allow for social distancing to take place between the rows so you can easily walk to and from the facilities.
+ STAYING SAFE
We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience and we have worked hard to design an event that continues to include social distancing and ensuring everyone stays safe. Please help us by: Not coming to the show if you have any COVID-19 symptoms (contact us to arrange a ticket exchange) Respecting the social distancing guidelines of our event. Not mixing outside of your designated pitch where possible. The moving of your chairs outside of your own pitch is strictly prohibited.
+ COVID POSITIVE
If you test positive for COVID we will be happy to exchange your tickets for another outdoor cinema night. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds.
+ HOW WILL I GET MY TICKET?
Tickets will be emailed to you as a print at home ticket. Please ensure you print these and bring them with you because printed tickets make it easier for our team to socially distance from you when scanning. If you cannot print them do not worry there are shops in Southwold Town that can print them for you. In the case you forget or cannot print the tickets, don't worry, we can scan from your smartphone.
+ WHAT IF I FORGET MY TICKET?
Please bring your ticket along, if you do forget it, we will have a record of all bookings so if you provide our team with your details we can admit you into the event. All audience members including children (3 or over) must have a valid ticket.
+ WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINK?
Yes, we will have local businesses offering hospitality with a selection of food and drink available. You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink too.
+ IS THERE A BAR ONSITE?
Yes, we have a pop-up bar offering a selection of beers, wines and spirits. Please drink responsibly.
+ ARE THERE TOILET FACILITIES?
There will be individual toilet facilities on site, with a minimum 2m space between each toilet. These will be regularly cleaned and sanitised throughout the film. Please use the hand sanitiser provided before and after using the facilities to help us stop the spread.
